Hi, My name is Adam How and I’d like to share my story with you about how I went from a broke college student, trying to pursue my parents dream to becoming the youngest elite sales rep in my industry and one of the top earners in my company within 2 years.
Like you, I didn’t really know what I was doing. I went to college to be an engineer because that’s what my family wanted me to do. They told me that the only way to have job security and be successful I needed to be a doctor or an engineer.
I have a week stomach, so being a doctor was out of the question, so being an engineer just made sense.
By my junior year in college I got my first internship making $22 / Hr. I thought “Yes! We made it!”. Within a few months, I hated every moment of what I was doing. I quickly realized I can’t spend the rest of my life doing this.
My first job ever was selling electronics at a famous retail electronics store. Every job I had before my engineering internship was sales. I loved everything about sales because there was just something that felt good about having influence on people.
I grew up as that shy fat kid that struggled making friends watched everyone go in and out of relationships in middle school and high school and I was always left out.
I sucked at communication, and I simply lacked confidence in self and perceived.
The reason why I wanted to get a sales job in the first place was because I wanted a girlfriend. Somehow, I knew inside of me that I wouldn’t get out of my comfort zone unless I literally took myself out of my comfort zone.
Choosing to get into sales was the best decision I ever made in my life and put me in a position to make over $200K within 2 years of graduating college. Most people work a life time for companies, working up the ranks and never even get close.
